People are tired of neo-conservative fear mongering that has produces the caricaturic Christian fundamentalist gun totitng homophobes of the deep south that is so contemptuous to us living in the real world. and the Ugly imperialist fatcat americans who feel the world is their playground in which they are free to exploit the skinny brown kid for his pocket money.

If you believe in the notion of history as progress; that with every epoch and through every generation we are improving ourselves and society, conservatism within this context, as G. K. Cheserson wrote is paradoxical: Conservatives are very much misguided in their notion that 'leaving things alone is leaving them as they are'.
